Sam A. Grampsas, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Grampsas is a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is the most recent addition to the Urologic Surgery Associates. He joined the practice in 2001 after completing medical school and urologic residency at the University Of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Having come out of residency so recently, he has been trained in the latest, state of the art, techniques for urologic care which are focused on better patient outcomes while minimizing treatment and surgical risks. He is specially trained in minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of urologic cancers, urinary incontinence, female urology, and neuromodulation (InterStim, Botox injection) in the treatment of over active bladder. In fact, Dr. Grampsas is a pioneer in laparoscopic surgery in central Illinois being the first surgeon to perform Hand-Assisted Laparoscopic Nephrectomy at each of the Bloomington/Normal Hospitals. He also has special training in vaginal reconstruction performing cystocele and rectocele repairs that do not fail. He complements cutting edge technologies by combining them with a pleasant bed-side manner and a patient by patient approach. Therapies are tailored to each patient being certain to involve them in the decision making process. His goal is to aid his patients in bettering their urologic health and overall well being. In addition to his patient commitment he is involved with many local, regional and national medical advisory boards to assure the future delivery of quality medicine. Recently, he has become active in medical student education and will continue pursuing further urologic education to better serve his patients.
Dr. Grampsas treats all facets of urologic conditions in adults and children. He has a focus on minimally invasive surgery, female urology, prostatic disease, urinary stone disease, and urinary incontinence. He lives in Bloomington with his wife Mollie who is a native of Bloomington/Normal. Together, they have two children, Spiro and Annabella. He treasures time with his family and enjoys traveling, music and golf.
